The Association for Recorded Sound Collections |
The Association for Recorded Sound Collections will host its 59th Annual Conference and Workshop in-person May 14-17, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown!
Tulsa is home to The Church Studio, the Woody Guthrie Center, the Bob Dylan Center, the Gilcrease Museum's Native American Collection, and the Philbrook Museum of Art, as well as a vibrant local music scene. The conference will include presentations, tours, and outings that focus on these attractions.
The workshop on May 14, 2025 will focus on building or remodeling audio preservation workspaces. Separate registration is required.
The conference on May 15-17, 2025 will include presentations and panel discussions with sound recording scholars, collectors, preservationists, and creators engaged in a broad range of topics that cross geographic, cultural, and collection boundaries, as well as tours of local sites, opening and closing receptions, a silent auction, and evening social events (Ask the Technical Committee, Collectors' Roundtable).
We are pleased to announce that two local sites will offer tours for conference registrants only: The American Song Archives and The Church Studio.
The American Song Archives, which administers the Woody Guthrie Center and the Bob Dylan Center, which are dedicated to preserving and promoting the life and work of these two influential figures, will provide tours of its collections and facilities, as well as discounted entry to its exhibits! In addition to the archives of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, the American Song Archives holds collections on Oscar Brand, Ron Cohen, Cynthia Gooding, Jules Halfant, Harold Leventhal, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Michael Scully, and others.
The Church Studio is a legendary recording studio founded by Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Leon Russell in 1972 in a historic church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Church Studio operates as an analog and digital recording facility and as a public attraction and music museum. At the studio's heart is a meticulously restored 1977 Neve 8068 mixing console, complemented by an extraordinary collection of vintage microphones and analog gear—preserving the integrity of classic recording while embracing modern techniques.Information
